NT Warrior: Rebuilding MegaMan!

I just found out that Scott McNiel, the voice of Proto Man and Dr. Wily from the Ruby-Spears cartoon, did the voices of GutsMan and a hand full of others on this show. So what I want to know is, why the hell didn't they cast him as ProtoMan and Lord Wily this time? It would have been amazing! Lord Wily needs his ridiculous German accent, and Proto Man needs to sound like a smug asshole damn it!

Plot Synopsis
Apparently having all the data to MegaMan isn't enough and according to Dr. Hikari, Lan's father, they need MegaMan's frame (which is what? more data?) which is stored at SciLab. Unfortunately since PharaohMan is fucking shit up everywhere, they can't get in unless they have a bunch of junk that Yai supplies because, if you hadn't noticed, she's rich. So they need to get everything together and jack in IceMan, Roll, GutsMan and Glyde to go get the frame.

Since SciLab's entire network is now a desert, Dr. Hikari programs a new character for the show, Rush, to lead the way. Rush sure gets a lot more screen time in this show than the games, where he's more or less relegated to an easter-egg or multiplayer. Just like Rush in the Ruby-Spears production, expect a goofy comic relief side kick coming up...

Meanwhile the Net Agents conscript Higsby into hacking into SciLab for them. In return they give him three "rare" battlechips. A Pop-Up, a Life Aura and a Quake? Ok, Pop-Up and Life Aura are a pain in the ass to get, sure, but Quake? Quake is JUNK! Wait? Why do I care about this? Higsby hacks SciLab and SharkMan, SkullMan and WoodMan jack in.

Dr. Hikari meanwhile has all of Lan's friends Navi's jack in as well and gets them through SciLabs new security put up by PharaohMan. They reach MegaMan's frame, and Lan uploads his data, but first MegaMan has to defrag, which we all know takes fucking forever! Just then, PharaohMan shows up and causes an earthquake to split the ground in half. Roll tries to rescue MegaMan, but GutsMan holds her back because it's too dangerous. He stops a rock from falling on her, and Glyde and IceMan pull her back while GutsMan gets deleted! Oh no!

Roll, IceMan and Glyde stand before PharaohMan about to get their asses deleted, when suddenly BlasterMan and StoneMan's clone army shows up to try and capture him. The battle lines are drawn as MegaMan falls through a bottomless pit, which we all know, next to spikes, is the worst thing that can happen to MegaMan.

Critique
I don't get this whole frame business. I mean, is it standard procedure to keep copies of this stuff for Navis? It can't be, because otherwise who would give a shit if their navi got deleted when they could fix them right up? Maybe it's expensive for a custom navi, but if that's true, why does every bum fuck in the show have a custom navi regardless of cost? I'm just saying that when taken into the greater context, it doesn't make any sense for MegaMan to come back and any other Navi to not.

That aside, the episode is alright, a little bit suspenseful, and mostly a lot of setup for the big finale coming up next episode. Of course if this was Star Force, this had been done in half the time. The art and animation is always good on this show, except when they do 3D graphics which almost always look like shit. They put MegaMan in brief 3D for a few seconds, and it does clash with the show, although wait until Beast where it looks fucking horrendous.

Rating: Thumbs up!
