NT Warrior: The NetMobile Grand Prix!

Plot Synopsis
Every once in a while, a cartoon or franchise or something will have one of those "Wacky Races" episodes. This is that episode.

Yai is holding a race for her company to show off their new line of NetNavi cars, and everyone's invited. Lan and MegaMan; Chaud and ProtoMan; Yai and Tory, with Glyde and IceMan; Mayl and Roll, with Rush; Higsby and NumberMan; and even WWW with their Navis. The Net Agents also enter to fuck over WWW.

All is not so well out on the track however, as the CutMan Brothers decide the race is the perfect chance to take their revenge on MegaMan. Due to their own incompetence however, MegaMan never even notices them, and they end up taking themselves out.

Like most Wacky Race scenarios, everyone is allowed to attack each other, and they're all using special chips for the cars. Naturally everyone is eliminated one by one until it's just MegaMan, ProtoMan and Roll. Roll spins out and crashes, sending Rush hurling from the wreckage over the finish line, and Rush is declared the winner, much to the chagrin of Lan.

Critique
Here's an episode that doesn't really do anything for the series, but doesn't hurt it either. Of course the situation is cliched, and you can guess perfectly well what's going to happen, but it's a decent episode.

At least in this shows context, it isn't too far out of place. After all, all the characters are more or less playing a video game race in their free time, and frankly, it makes more sense than Mega Man Battle and Chase. The ending is kind of humorous too.

There is a really nasty jump cut near the start of the episode. The dubbers obviously cut something out here, and didn't clean it up enough. What's up with that? Also, Aki is shown again, and they really need to stop trying to use this cruddy 3D stuff that clashes so much with the show. Of course, this won't kill the episode though, and you might enjoy it for what it is.

Rating: Thumbs up!
