Writing these articles has been a bit taxing but playing the games more than makes up for that. It's as much about me chronicling my opinions and experiences with these games as much as it is reviewing them, and while it's a bitch sometimes, it's still a lot of fun. I'm almost done now though as we roll on to 2005, the year that Zero and Battle Network make their final (well until recently with Battle Network) farewells and make way for the new blue heroes. In terms of the miscellaneous games that come out each year, 2005 was relatively tame. Most of the stuff that came out were just ports and re-releases such as Mega Man 3 and 4 for cell phones and Rockman DASH (Legends) 1 and 2 for PSP. I think Capcom was testing the waters again for a potential Legends 3 push, but as far as I know it didn't fare well enough to seal the deal. Here's the stuff that did come out that I won't be able to give proper reviews for.
Rockman EXE: The Medal Operation
Wow, we haven't seen an Arcade game in a long time have we? Arcades are apparently still decent business in Japan but are dying out in the States and not seeing this game come over isn't surprising. I don't know much about this one, but apparently you can hook up your brand spanking new Link PET (below) and battle your friends in a series of minigames for tokens which you trade for prizes at a counter somewhere. You can see more screenshots at Capcom's own Japanese website (don't ask me what the hell it says, I have no idea).
Rockman.exe Link PET LCD Game
Could it be more obvious as to why Capcom changes the PET's in the games anymore? These things are mostly merchandising for the TV show than the video games though and Rockman.exe Beast and Beast+ never made it over here which is why the US toys stopped at Access. Once again it's just like any of the other PET's I've shown here before, but these things are still available for importing and relatively cheap compared to some of the others at around $30. Although good luck finding the Bass one in the picture.
And that's it! Told you it wasn't a lot this year.
